Each exciting children's programme features specialised, age-specific activities and children are required to take part in the programme designed for their age.

All Youth Centres are fully supervised by our experienced staff. Younger children are entertained with toys, educational games and lots of special activities just for them, all under the supervision of our Youth Staff. There are also pagers available (for a refundable deposit) to allow our staff to communicate with parents. You'll find a full list of activities printed each day in the children's own daily newsletter.

Our HQ adn HQ+ youth staff provide a variety of exciting activities aged 11 - 17. They have their own lounge, complete with video games, movies and music. It's a great place to hang out and meet new friends.

Our Youth Centres are open from 9.00am to 10.30pm (hours may vary) for all passengers aged from 3 years to 17 years. Only children who have been toilet trained may participate without a parent or guardian. Group child minding is available in Turtle Cove and Shark Shack from 10.30pm to 1.00am for an extra charge. We cannot guarantee your child's participation in Youth Centre activities. Entry is on a first come, first served basis. Please note, private in-cabin babysitting is not available on any P&O Cruises ship.

Parent Responsibilities

Even on your cruise holiday, there are some little details to need to take care of. For your child's comfort and enjoyment, please don't leave them in the Youth Centre for extended periods. If your child becomes upset or distressed, our staff will contact you.

Our staff members are not permitted to administer medication, change a nappy or bottle feed your child. You will be paged if your child needs assistance.

Nautical Glossary

Abeam
On the beam, a relative bearing at right angles to the centerline of the ship's keel.
Beam ends
The sides of a ship. "On her beam ends" may mean the vessel is literally on her side and possibly about to capsize; more often, the phrase means the vessel is listing 45 degrees or more.
Daggerboard
A type of centerboard that is lifted vertically; often used in pairs.
Handsomely
Gradually, as "lower handsomely".
Dog-watch
The watches from four to six and six to eight in the evening.
Griping
The inclination of a ship to run to windward.
Gunnel
The large plank that runs along the upper part of a ship's side.
Lee-side
The half of a ship, lengthwise, which lies between a line drawn through the middle of her length and the side, which is farthest from the point of wind.
Water line
The line made by the water's edge when a ship has her full proportion of stores on board.
Fresh away
When your ship increases its velocity.
