We recommend you call the Arrival and Departure Information Line on 1300 653 620 (AU) or 0800 543 429 (NZ) at least 24 hours prior to your cruise to confirm the ship’s departure time or visit our Arrivals and Departure page.

In the event there is a significant delay to your cruise check-in or
departure, we will send an SMS to the mobile number provided in
your booking. To ensure you can receive any important updates
about your cruise, simply update your mobile phone number in Cruise Personaliser.

Nautical Glossary

Act of Pardon / Act of Grace
A letter from a state or power authorising action by a privateer. Also see Letter of Marque.
Abaft the beam
Further aft than the beam: a relative bearing of greater than 90 degrees from the bow: "two points abaft the port beam".
Abandon ship!
An imperative to leave the vessel immediately, usually in the face of some imminent danger.
Abeam
On the beam, a relative bearing at right angles to the centerline of the ship's keel.
Dayboard
The daytime identifier of an aid to navigation presenting one of several standard shapes (square, triangle, rectangle) and colors (red, green, white, orange, yellow, or black).
Fast
Fastened or held firmly (fast aground: stuck on the seabed; made fast: tied securely).
Beating to windward
Making progress against the direction of the wind, by steering alternately close-hauled on the starboard and larboard tacks.
Griping
The inclination of a ship to run to windward.
Lee-side
The half of a ship, lengthwise, which lies between a line drawn through the middle of her length and the side, which is farthest from the point of wind.
Fresh away
When your ship increases its velocity.
