Tour the Burnie Regional Museum relive Burnie’s past; take a break for tea at beautiful Emu Valley Rhododendron Gardens and stroll Burnie Park, home to the historic Burnie Inn. The first stop is Burnie Regional Museum; with over 30,000 items on display, this recreation brings 1880's Burnie to life. Stroll an enclosed village street and see the Emu Bay Inn, dentist’s office, wash house, carpenter’s shop, creamery, print shop, post office, smithy, boot shop and stage depot. Our next stop is at Emu Valley Rhododendron Gardens. They are a non-profit community organisation building and running a multiple award-winning rhododendron garden. The garden is widely known internationally and its unique design makes it one of Australia's major rhododendron gardens. See over 20,000 rhododendrons and other select plants set among 13ha with a series of "countries" from which the wild rhododendrons originate, within authentic built environments. After enjoying morning tea we continue to Maker’s Workshop for Creative Paper Handmade Paper tour. You are invited to keep the Burnie paper making tradition alive and try your hand at making paper with the support of experienced and informative paper makers.
