The Great Barrier Reef
Travel onboard a Whitsundays' premier day cruise vessel, to one of the largest and most sophisticated Australian owned reef platforms on the Great Barrier Reef. Explore pristine Knuckle Reef Lagoon, acclaimed as the region's most spectacular Great Barrier Reef site. Along with lunch, a host of activities await you - including swimming and snorkelling, a semi-submersible, an underwater viewing observatory, plus regular presentations by marine biologists. It is also the only reef pontoon in Australia with a giant waterslide! The transfer from ship's anchor to the Reef Pontoon is approximately two hours each way. Approximately 2.5 hours will be spend at the pontoon depending on weather conditions’ Passengers prone to seasickness should take the necessary precautions; the passage over open water is sometimes rough.

Food/ Menu

Tea and coffee served on the catamaran. During your time at the Pontoon a delicious buffet lunch will be served. Additional beverages can be purchased at the bar onboard your Whitsundays' premier day cruise vessel.

Photography

Take some photo’s of your trip to the Pontoon. Whilst at the Ponton take some under water photos from the underwater viewing chamber or from a glass bottom boat, all while staying dry. Disposable waterproof camera’s are available for purchase.

Special Notes

The season for the box jellyfish and stingers generally starts with the onset of the wet across the top of northern Australia, usually around October and lasts until April. The transfer from ship's anchor to the Reef Pontoon is approximately two hours long. Approximately 2.5 hours will be spent at the Pontoon. Passengers prone to seasickness should take the necessary precautions; the passage over open water is sometimes rough. Snorkel equipment, tuition and stinger suits are included. Don’t forget additional cash &/or your credit card for optional tours and drinks from the bar. Please be advised that certain activities (listed under "Optional Extras") may be offered once at the pontoon. These activities are not operated by P&O Cruises and as such we cannot guarantee the safety of passengers engaging in such activities. Accordingly, any passengers engaging in such activities do so entirely at their own risk. If you are in any doubt about any aspect of any activity offered to you, please contact your P&O Cruises representative. The maximum age for introductory scuba tours is 55; there are certain medical conditions that may prevent participation. Certified scuba divers must present their certification cards The minimum SCUBA diving age is 12. Please note, a parent/guardian must accompany those between 12 and 18 years of age and provide a letter of consent. All participants should be in good health and will be required to complete a PADI medical questionnaire. If you have any doubts regarding your fitness to dive, please consult a physician prior to your cruise To make your day as enjoyable as possible, wear your swimsuit under your clothes; bring a towel, a change of clothes, water resistant SPF30+ or higher factor sunscreen and money for drinks and souvenirs
