P&O News – Sunsets at Sea
Much-loved Hotel Director Kevin Boag is now heading home for a well-earned rest after a spell on Pacific Explorer.
Kevin joined Pacific Explorer in June for 3 months as she sailed in the South China Sea and has been regularly sharing stunning sunset photos from onboard. We miss these magical vistas so much.

Mystery Island, Vanuatu
Get stuck on a desert island on purpose.
Mystery Island is a tiny, uninhabited islet in Vanuatu’s Tafea Province, in the South Pacific. Only reachable by cruise ship, it's too special to not visit.
Take a P&O Shore Tour and choose from glass bottom kayak and snorkelling tours, with snorkelling gear available for hire or purchase onboard. For the culturally inclined, book our Modern Village Tour and spend the day learning how the local Aneityum families live. Plus, there is some local shopping to enjoy. Choose from an array of local handicrafts, sarongs, woven hats & floral shirts. You'll be sure to find a special keepsake to take home.
Visit Mystery Island on Discover Vanuatu or select Pacific Island Hopper itineraries departing from Sydney, Brisbane or Adelaide. The 12-night Fiji Adventure cruise from Sydney or the 10-night Bounty Adventure cruise departing Auckland also call at Mystery Island.
Great Barrier Reef
Australia's Great Barrier Reef is 'great' in every single way. You can swim, snorkel, dive and cruise this living phenomenon. One of the world's seven natural wonders, the Great Barrier Reef is World Heritage listed and rich with intricate coral gardens, tropical fish, molluscs, reef sharks, dolphins and turtles.
P&O shore tours allow guests to experience this amazing and unforgettable area. Board a high-speed catamaran, then get up close & personal with the reef, swimming, snorkelling or scuba diving.
You can take a P&O shore tour and visit the Great Barrier Reef from either Airlie Beach, Cairns or Port Douglas. Check out the 7-night Barrier Reef Discovery cruise from Brisbane or a 10-night cruise from Sydney. Additionally, from Brisbane, take a P&O Short Break to Airlie Beach.
Vanuatu Volleyball Team
First they won the hearts of their South Pacific nation when they narrowly missed out on selection for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics. Then they triumphed in 2018 on the Gold Coast becoming the first Vanuatu athletes to win a Commonwealth Games team medal.
Now the Vanuatu Women’s Beach Volleyball team are battling for selection to the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
And you, our Cruiselings, have supported the team through the guest funded P&O Pacific Partnership, with additional direct assistance from P&O Cruises Australia.
As International travel is no longer routine in a pandemic world, the Vanuatu players have faced every obstacle imaginable to get to the Continental Cup Final in Thailand in June that will decide whether they make it to Tokyo.
If courage, resilience and determination were the deciding factors, the team would already have earned ‘gold!’
Cruiselings, when you support the Vanuatu Women’s Beach Volleyball team you are also supporting the aspirations of a nation that are so special to our P&O Cruises' community. We wish them luck and send thanks to you.See Press Release
Giving Hands Vanuatu
Your valued contributions to the P&O Pacific Partnership continue to make a difference to our friends in the South Pacific. In Vanuatu, we've been able to commit $21,000 to the Giving Hands Vanuatu fundraising campaign which has helped to repair a leaking corridor roof adjoining Vila Central Hospital's maternity unit and children's ward.
This area has suffered flooding in recent years and had been in dire need of attention, with its restoration helping to ensure newborns get the best possible start in life, in the best possible environment.
New mothers like Maximiliene Bihu Taviri and baby Ashton who was born earlier this year, are just one family of many who have already benefitted from the restoration works, all thanks to support from you, Cruiselings.
We look forward to when P&O can visit Vanuatu again and we sincerely thank you for your unrivalled community support and kindness for the people that live there.
