Spend the day discovering the Bogor Highlands, an area covered in tea plantations and farms sitting a cool 1,000 feet above sea level. Tucked among this arresting backdrop is the Bogor Botanical Garden, a 215-acre site that contains more than 15,000 species of trees and plants including two orchid houses filled with 3,000 varieties. Have your camera handy as you stroll the grounds. The Gardens are a refuge for more than 50 different varieties of birds and for groups of bats roosting high in the trees. Travel to a nearby spot for lunch before heading out to Taman Safari Park, a drive-through open-park zoo that’s recognized as one of the world’s most successful breeding centers of endangered species. From inside your vehicle you’ll see Bengal tigers, giraffes, orangutans, hippos, zebras, cheetahs, elephants and komodo dragons. So have your camera at the ready - you never know what will pop in your window!
Don’t forget your camera!
