See some of Jakarta’s most popular sites followed by free time for shopping during this five-hour tour that begins with a stop at the National Monument. This 450-foot-tall marble obelisk is topped with a flame covered in gold foil and stands near the Indonesian National History Museum, which offers a look into Indonesia’s prehistoric past and its thriving present. For a look into the Dutch colonial period you’ll travel to Fatailah Square, once the heart of the colonial administration in the 18th century and home to a number of well-preserved buildings. On the west side of the square sits the Wayang (Puppet) Museum, devoted to the story telling traditions in Indonesia. Another time-honoured tradition awaits at your next destination - the Sarinah Shopping Mall, where you’ll have free time to shop for fashions, cosmetics, perfumes, souvenirs, handicrafts and textiles; including the traditional woven cloth known as ikat.
