Cultures of Lombok & Senggigi Beach

Learn about the fascinating culture of Lombok. Your tour starts with a visit to Nusa Tenggara Barat Province museum. A museum for the West Nusa Tenggara Province, here you can see the hand woven cloth collections, the intricately detailed Kris knives, and a small Dongson drum among other displays and showcases. You will then visit the Narmada Water Palace, an artificial lake located in the city of Mataram whose shape resembles Segara Anak in the caldera of the Rinjani volcano. Next to the Lingsar Temple. This large temple complex, built in 1714, is a very important temple as both Hindus and the local Sasak people, pracising Islam Wetu Telu, come to worship here. Following this visit, you will continue north towards Senggigi, into the hills that offer the best views of the sea dotted with colourful ‘prahu’ (local fishing catamarans) returning home from their overnight fishing trips. Senggigi, the busiest tourist area of the island, is where you will enjoy a sumptuous Indonesian buffet lunch. On the return journey to port, stop at Banyu Mulek, a village famous for stunning handmade pottery. Climb aboard a Cidomo (traditional horse cart) for a tour around the village. Witness skilled craftsmen processing clay into beautiful export quality pottery. A visit to a large pottery gallery is included, where you can purchase finished products before getting back onboard.
