Hidden beneath the picturesque farmland of Gunns Plains is a fascinating world of caves, sinkholes and underground streams. Enjoy stunning cave formations, rich colours and sparking crystals. The caves feature some of the largest limestone shawl formations in the Southern Hemisphere, underground stream and glow-worm display.
Then continue on to the magnificent Leven Canyon. Take a short walk and look out over the 250m deep below. The Leven Canyon is on the Leven River which runs through 300M high limestone cliffs carved through the Loongana Range, down to Bass Strait. The viewing platform offers spectacular views of Black Bluff, the Canyon it self and the surrounding areas.
Please bring your camera to capture the views and settings.
Upon entry a steep flight of 54 concrete steps are descended and from this point the pathway is fairly level apart from a short ladder to be climbed down. The tour route through the cave is some 275 metres long. Occasional dampness underfoot is not troublesome provided visitors wear low-heeled walking shoes. It is not recommended for those with health or mobility concerns.
To make your day as enjoyable as possible, please ensure that you wear clothing suited to the weather conditions, a hat and jacket, also bring sunscreen and bottled water.
