Bundaberg & Rum Distillery

Ever wanted to visit the hometown of the famed "Bundy Rum"? Today is your chance! Joined by a long time local as your host travel from Gladstone to the Bundaberg region (approx. 2.15 hours travel each way). On the way your guide will delight and entertain with commentary and history of 1770, the sugar industry and history of the Gladstone and Bundaberg regions. Hear local stories and uncover tales of the highs, the lows and the reality of life in Central Queensland. The highlight of the day is taking a tour of the Bundaberg Distilling Company. You'll be led to the swirling wells of molasses, uncover the mysterious processes of fermentation and distillation and walk through the Grand Barrelhouse, an historic oak vat the size of a small house. The distillery tour concludes with 2 samples of the famous rum and time to shop for souvenirs. Take a short trip for a casual lunch out on the deck of a local club overlooking the town's Burnett River. You'll get a great feel for the characters, the charm and way of life that make the Capricorn Coast so unique.
