Discover the oldest Army base in Australia, the Anglesea Barracks. The Museum is located in the Military Gaol which was built in 1847. The displays depict the colonial period when the British Army occupied the site as well as the various conflicts Tasmanian service men and women have been involved in from 1899 right up to their current operational deployments. Filled with a fascinating collection of military memorabilia and uniforms, you’ll have a guided tour and free time to discover Australia’s military past and present.
After Anglesea Barracks enjoy a city drive through historic areas of Hobart taking in sights such as Cascade, Mt Nelson Signal Station, Battery Point and Salamanca, as well as Cenotaph, Soldiers' Walk, Domain, Government House, Botanical Gardens.
