Cruises to Port Lincoln
Australia
Port Lincoln
At the southern tip of South Australia’s Eyre Peninsula, the sweeping coastline of this bustling port reveals a seafood wonderland.
Charting Australia’s unexplored coastline, Englishman Matthew Flinders discovered Port Lincoln in 1802 and named it after his native Lincolnshire. Port Lincoln was in close contention to become South Australia’s capital, but lost out to Adelaide, mainly because of a lack of fresh water supplies. These days, surrounded by unspoilt coastline, this thriving and beautiful city overlooking Boston Bay now proudly lays claim to the title of “Australia’s seafood capital”. The town offers museums, art galleries and some great fishing spots, with whiting, snapper, salmon, sweep, snook, tommy ruffs, garfish, squid and many other species available all year round.
