Waitomo Glow Worm Grotto

This tour takes you to view the geological wonders of the Waitomo Glow Worm Grotto and be treated to both countryside and regional town scenes on the drive each way. Travel three hours to Waitomo Glow Worm Grotto where you will travel an underground river through limestone caves illuminated by the flickering blue-green light of glow worms. The limestone formations include The Cathedral, an acoustically perfect auditorium that has hosted performances by such recording artists as the Vienna Boys Choir. Pay a visit to Fraser & Debbie Robertson’s home of Crosshills, where the lovely English style garden is a visitor’s delight for some New Zealand hospitality and a home cooked lunch. Motorcoach portion of the tour operates with a driver/guide. The scenic drive to Waitomo is approximately 3 hours each way The cave’s pathways are not paved, there are 100 easy-paced steps going down into the cave and to exit there are 50 steps. Photography is prohibited within the cave. To make your day as enjoyable as possible, please ensure that you wear comfortable flat-soled shoes, clothing suited to the weather conditions, a hat and jacket, and bring along some bottled water.
