Cruises to Napier
Located by the sea, Napier is dubbed the Art Deco capital of the world.
Napier was rebuilt in the early 1930’s following a devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake, which is recorded as New Zealand’s largest natural disaster to date. The new buildings reflected the architectural styles of the time – Stripped Classical, Spanish Mission and Art Deco. Napier’s Art Deco is unique and features Maori motifs and design elements. Napier has great shopping with an impressive range of stores. Its compact layout makes it very easy to get around. Head to the heart of the shopping district on Emerson and Tennyson Streets, or relax at one of the fabulous cafes or restaurants. One of the city’s highlights is picturesque Marine Parade. Attractions include the National Aquarium of New Zealand, an Ocean Spa Complex, a Par 2 Mini Golf course, the Pania of the Reef statue, the colourful Tom Parker fountain and the Millennium Arch. The suburbs of Taradale and Ahuriri are also destinations in their own right.
