This engaging eight hour active shore excursion takes you on a journey across the North island, enabling you to discover more about the Maori people and their culture, as well as enjoying some of the island's more luxurious pastimes.
Make yourself comfortable as your driver takes you to Kiwi 360. Located in Te Puke, in the Bay of Plenty, Kiwi 360 was established in 1987, and celebrates the popular kiwifruit that was once known as the “Chinese Gooseberry.” It is New Zealand’s national iconic fruit and is proving to be one of the world’s super foods. Take a tour through the lush orchards, before browsing for kiwi-related souvenirs in the gift shop. Don't forget to look out for their giant Kiwi fruit, which has to be seen to be believed!
Leaving Kiwi 360, you will then travel to Te Puia in the Whakarewarewa Valley, a natural wonder considered to be a sacred place by the Maori people. According to tribal history, it was here that the fire goddesses Te Pupu and Te Hoata emerged from the earth's core.
Here, you will join a friendly Maori guide for a fascinating tour of the valley, home to stunning geysers, mud pools and mineral springs. This story-telling part of the tour includes a traditional Maori cultural performance, where you will be able to enjoy demonstrations of fighting skills, the famous haka war challenge, plus song and dance activities still practiced by New Zealand's indigenous peoples.
After this vibrant shot of culture, you will be driven to a local hotel for a relaxing lunch where you will enjoy fresh New Zealand cuisine. You will then travel to the Polynesian Lake Spa Retreat, one of New Zealand's leading international day spas, that overlooks Sulphur Bay on Lake Rotorua. Here, you can soak your body in one of the wonderful four hot pools, which range in temperature from 96.8 to 107.6 degrees Fahrenheit. The spa features luxury changing rooms, security lockers, towels, soap and shampoo, hair dryers, and even a private lounge with full bar if you wish to purchase refreshments.
Emerge feeling totally relaxed and pampered. Unwind and absorb the day as you drive amidst the kiwifruit country into the coastal peninsular of Mt Maunganui, to the Port of Tauranga.
