Travel through some of the unspoiled valleys of Rarotonga with your guide, Pa-a noted traditional medicine man with a vast knowledge of Cook Islands’ culture and traditions. This eco-tour will take you into the lush interior of the island, where Pa will spend time highlighting the many medicinal uses of the native flora as well as relating great stories of the history of this special place. You’ll visit Pa’s own property to enjoy a platter of tropical fruits and view the garden. As you head to the east side of the island, you’ll pass through the township of Avarua and see the old colonial churches, graveyards and plantations. Continue to mountainside viewpoints to admire the impressive panoramas. Then, back down at the water’s edge, you’ll find the picturesque Muri Lagoon. Visit the Noni Factory, where the modern day miracle fruit-claimed by some to cure a number of diseases and ailments-is processed and exported globally. Continue past the airport and the largest hotels on the island, stopping to visit the perfume factory and gift shop en route back to the pier.
