Venture off the beaten track on this 4WD adventure to the heights of Rarotonga, where you can savour the stunning views of the lagoon, valleys and inland villages. Along the way, your local guide will provide an interesting commentary on the various traditional uses of local flora and fauna. Stop at Orau-O-Uritau at the beginning of the Avatiu Valley, where your guide will give a brief introduction before you continue into the depths of the rain forest. Climbing to 984 feet above sea level in your vehicle, take in the spectacular views-some of the most beautiful on the island. Head towards the west of the island and Hospital Hill, which overlooks Arorangi Village and the Avatiu/Nikao township. Pause for photos at Wigmore’s Waterfall before continuing to Papaaroa Beach for a brief stop. At Muri-Ngatangiia village you’ll turn inland up to Aroko Heights for a great bird’s-eye view over the lagoon and its motu (islands). Next, travel along the main road to Avana to see the departure point of the seven ancient canoes that left area in search of New Zealand. Finally, you’ll stop at the Arai-Te-Tonga Marae, one of the most sacred sites on the island.

To make your day as enjoyable as possible, please wear comfortable flat-soled shoes, clothing suited to the weather conditions, a hat and SPF30+ or higher factor sunscreen. Make sure to bring bottled water.
Not suitable for guests with mobility limitations or for guests using a wheelchair. Ride will be bumpy. Pregnant women or guests with back or neck problems are not allowed to participate. Not suitable for guests who suffer from vertigo. Seating is on padded benches in the four-wheel-drive vehicle.
