Relics Of World War II

Visit a Japanese jail, which held the surviving crew from two Japanese patrol boats that sank in 1942 and Euart’s Memorial, constructed in honour of the US Army captain who drowned while heroically saving men from the sinking SS President Coolidge. Other places of interest include Bomber 1 (overgrown) and Bomber 2 2 (now an international airport); BP Wharf, built by the US in 1942 to support their troops; Million Dollar Point, where US military dumped tonnes of equipment into the ocean after the war; the Quonset huts and buildings used between 1942 and 1945. Also visit the site of one of the many American hospitals located on the island and view many artefacts left behind
