Pre-Cruise Checklist


Getting ready for your P&O Cruise is exciting! Here's our last minute checklist to get you ready to sail.

eTickets and Luggage Labels

Select your check in time in Cruise Control to access your eTicket. For each booking, the following documents will be provided:

  • eTicket (including departure and check-in details, guest names, room number, arrival details, and important travel information)
  • Luggage Tag - print one tag for each piece of luggage, and complete Guest Name & Mobile Number on each (Ship name, Cruise Number will be populated, along with your room number if allocated at time of generation).

In addition, bookings with flights booked through P&O CruiseAir will receive a single-sided Flight Information page with all passengers on the booking listed on the one page. 

If you have booked a P&O Cruises’ transfer, a transfer confirmation will also be included with your eTicket.

Passport & ID

For international itineraries: A passport valid for a minimum of 6 months beyond disembarkation date. In addition, travel with us won't revalidate an Australian or New Zealand re-entry visa.

For cruises that don't visit any foreign ports, a valid passport or government issued photo identification is needed (Queensland 'Adult Proof of Age Card' will be accepted, however the older version of Queensland 'Card 18+' will not be accepted). Electronic drivers license currently not accepted

For guests under 18:
For Australian domestic cruises, a current Medicare card can be used for guests under 18. 
For New Zealand domestic cruises, an original or certified copy of the child's birth certificate or a school pass with photo will be accepted.

Luggage

Packing your bag is the last thing to do before your adventure. Make sure you’ve got everything you need for the best holiday ever! We recommend two bags per person. 

Each bag can be no bigger than 140cm x 60cm x 40cm and weigh no more than 32kg.
If you’re flying to port, it’s important to note that airlines may have different luggage restrictions. 
All luggage, hand and check-in will be screened at embarkation and disembarkation. So don’t pack anything you don’t want us to see!

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is one of the most important things you should organise before your holiday.

As medical costs on your cruise are not covered by Medicare or private insurance, we recommend comprehensive travel insurance. Whether you are sailing in domestic waters or internationally, you are personally liable for any medical expenses and associated costs incurred at anytime before the cruise, onboard or overseas.

Certain ports may impose a requirement that you hold travel insurance.  You may not be able to medically disembark from certain ports of call without Travel Insurance. While there is medical care onboard, it is only there to stabilise your condition. Once disembarked, the medical attention you need, may require repatriation which can be extremely costly.

The Immigration Authorities of New Caledonia have advised that guests who do not hold international travel insurance that covers medical costs, repatriation and other expenses may be refused entry into New Caledonia. We strongly recommend that you purchase appropriate international travel insurance for your P&O Cruise.

Prohibited Items

To ensure a safe and enjoyable holiday for all our guests, items which may pose a risk to the safety of guests and crew are not allowed to be brought onboard our ships including: Irons, kettles, coffee machines, baby bottle warmers, candles, heating devices, illegal drugs, illicit substances, flammable liquids, weapons (including knives of any kind), hoverboards (Flyboards or similar devices),remote control devices of any kind, such as drones, and power boards with surge protection devices (Surge protectors are set up for land-based electrical systems. Ships use a different electrical system and when these power boards are used onboard, they can cause damage to electrical items and can also be potentially hazardous).

In addition certain electrical items and personal grooming devices, such as power boards (without surge protection devices), laptops, phone and camera charges, , hair dryers and straighteners, curling irons and shavers may be allowed onboard if they are deemed to be in a safe and proper working condition, and used with proper caution. However, if such devices are deemed to pose a hazard, they will be confiscated and available for collection at the end of the cruise.

As part of our commitment to the responsible service of alcohol and to ensure the safety and security of guests and crew, guests are prohibited from bringing alcoholic beverages onboard. In addition, the following beverage items cannot be brought onboard our ships:

  • Plastic or glass bottled drinks (including water) and slab packs of canned drinks;
  • Tetra pack drinks (including fruit juice poppers)

Each guest can bring onboard a maximum of 12 canned drinks loosely packed in hand luggage.

Special Entry & Visa Requirements

Papua New Guinea Passenger Declaration Form
All guests are required to complete and print the Incoming Passenger Declaration Form and present it at check-in. Free electronic visas will be issued to all guests upon arrival to Papua New Guinea.
A Quarantine fee of PKG15.00 (approx. AU$6.00) will be added to the onboard account of each guest. No other visa fee will apply.  If you are not using an Australian or New Zealand passport for this cruise, you must have a valid visa to return to Australia. Please ensure you bring a printed copy of your approved return tourist or Australian resident visa to check-in. Those guests who do not present a valid visa to return to Australia at check-in may be denied boarding.

Timor-Leste Visa Information

In addition to your passport having at least 6 months validity after the end of the cruise, your passport should have at least one blank page available for a visa sticker that will be issued. You will be issued a visa on arrival, and a visa fee of US$30 will be added to your onboard account. Please note that this fee is subject to change.

Indonesia Visa Information

In addition to your clients’ passport having at least 6 months validity after the end of the cruise, they should also have at least one blank page available for the free visa stamp that will be issued.

Indonesia has extended the BVK Free Visa Allowance to include Australian and New Zealand passport holders. This new scheme is only applicable through selected airports and cruise ports, including Benoa which are part of your clients’ cruise itinerary. All other passport holders should contact the nearest consulate or a visa service to determine whether they are eligible for the BVK Free Visa or whether they will need to obtain another visa in advance of the cruise.
Singapore/ Malaysia Visa Information

Australian and New Zealand passport holders do not require a visa to visit Singapore or Malaysia. All other passport holders should visit the nearest consulate or a visa service to determine whether they will need to obtain a visa in advance of the cruise.

Fiji Visa Information

Australian and New Zealand passport holders do not require a visa to visit Fiji. If you hold a passport from any other country, please visit the nearest consulate or a visa service well in advance of your cruise to determine whether you will require a visa.
